Department History

The Department of Nutrition in the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences was established in January 2020 in recognition of the importance of the discipline of nutrition in maintaining health and preventing diseases. Prior to 2020, students and faculty interested in nutrition were part of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science which was created in 2005. By establishing the study of nutrition as its own department, the college and university is better able to prepare students for the field of nutrition, further faculty success and better align with the needs of those in the industry who employ our graduates.
