Undergraduate Degrees

B.S. in Nutrition

Nutritional sciences provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of the biological and social sciences to understand the relationships between nutrients, food components and human health. Prevention of diseases that are related to lifestyle, particularly diet and nutrition, is a focus of the curriculum.

The B.S. in Nutrition also provides an excellent background for those interested in pursuing graduate degrees in biological, nutritional or food sciences as well as professional degrees in medicine, physician assistant, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, nursing, public health and other health professions; or dietetic internships.

Nutrition Degree Tracks

Our department offers two curriculum tracks to provide flexibility for our student’s chosen career paths. The human health and  didactic program in dietetics tracks prepare our students for a wide array of careers in the field of nutrition.

Didactic Program in Dietetics

The strong science foundation provided in our ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) prepares students for a dietetic internship and the Registered Dietitian path, medical school, or graduate studies in other health professions like pharmacy and nursing.

Didactic Program in Dietetics Track

Human Health

The Human Health Track provides a strong knowledge base and fundamental understanding of nutrition principles supported by a wide range of courses in chemistry, statistics, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, and anatomy and physiology to prepare for a broad range of human health careers. The goal of this curriculum is to give students a broad education in the nutritional sciences in preparation for a variety of human health career opportunities.

The Department of Nutrition at Texas A&M University offers an enhanced learning experience to qualified students majoring in nutrition. Participation in the NUTR Honors Program enriches a student’s college experience by offering scholastically-challenging curriculum and stimulating an interest in research.
