Pre-Nursing for Nutrition Students

Pre-Nursing students can earn all 90 credit hour prerequisites for Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs while working towards a Nutrition Minor.

Pre-Nursing in Nutrition

Nutrition is essential for human health and provides a strong science foundation for a career in Nursing.

Prior to entering a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, students need to earn approximately 59 semester credit hours of prerequisite courses in the humanities and biological, physical and behavioral sciences. Prerequisite coursework may be completed at any regionally accredited college or university.

Through human focused science and health courses, students can earn their prerequisites in the Department of Nutrition while working towards a Minor in Nutrition.

Pre-Nursing Pathways

Traditional BSN (2+2)

The traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) track is a standard two-year, four-semester program offered in Bryan-College Station and McAllen. Students complete 61 credit hours of professional nursing course work.

Prior to entry, students must complete approximately 59 semester credit hours of prerequisite courses in the humanities and biological, physical and behavioral sciences. Prerequisite coursework may be completed at any regionally accredited college or university. Current and former Texas A&M University students and prospective transfer students are welcome to apply.

Second-Degree Accelerated BSN (4+1)

Delivered at the Round Rock campus, the second-degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) track is a 15-month, four-semester accelerated program available to applicants with a previous bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field of study. Prior to entry, students must complete approximately 59 semester credit hours of prerequisite courses in the humanities and biological, physical and behavioral sciences to provide a foundation for growth in the nursing major if not completed in their first degree. Prerequisite coursework may be completed at any regionally accredited college or university.
