Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)
The ACEND website provides information about each DI program including the DI Program Director’s contact information and the program web link.
Specific DI Program Websites
DI Programs have websites that provide specific information and application materials. The information on the DI website should take precedence over all other resource information since it belongs to and is managed by the program. Be resourceful by thoroughly reading the website for application requirements and information prior to contacting the DI Program Director to ask questions.

Texas A&M University Dietetic Program in Dietetics Handbook
The Texas A&M University DPD Handbook provides information on preparing to be a strong DI applicant and step-by-step guidelines on the DI application process.
The Applicant Guide to Supervised Practice
The Applicant Guide to Supervised Practice, which is available to A&M students on the DPD Google Drive, includes an information sheet on each DI program organized by the state that the program is located. Information provided includes specific program details, concentration, estimated costs and fees, admission requirements, and criteria used in evaluating applicants.
Information is provided for both undergraduate coordinated programs and post-graduate internship programs. The program type is indicated at the top of the page. Texas A&M University DPD students should only consider programs that are Dietetic Internships.
Texas A&M University DPD Google Drive
This resource is exclusively for DPD students and includes relevant DPD and DI program forms and information. DPD students who do not have access to this resource should email Karen Beathard, DPD Director at [email protected].
Professional Development and Networking
Texas A&M University Nutrition and Dietetic Career Workshop and Fair
The Nutrition and Dietetic Career Workshop and Fair is an annual event planned by Texas A&M University students for students preparing to apply to DI programs or prepare for careers in the field of nutrition. It includes opportunities to talk to DI Directors and interns at respective programs and network with registered dietitians. It is scheduled in the fall semester annually and is open to all Nutrition students.

DI Open Houses or Site Visits
Many DI programs offer open house events or opportunities for students to visit the program. Dates of open house events may be found on the DI program website. Open House events advertised to the DPD Director will be emailed to DPD students. Register for the open house events according to the information given.
It is appropriate to contact the DI Program Director directly to schedule a visit at programs that do not offer an open house event. Professional dress is required at these events.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual DI Fair
The Academy Annual DI Fair is held annually in October at the Academy Food and Nutrition Conference and Exposition (FNCE).
Professional Organizational Involvement
Participation in a variety of organizations and activities with identified leadership involvement is essential in preparation for a DI program and career in the dietetic profession. Professional organizations that DPD students should consider participating in can be found in the DPD Handbook.
Current and/or Former Interns of DI Programs
It is acceptable to contact current and/or former interns of respective DI Programs to ask them questions regarding their internship experience. This is subjective information, but may be useful in making a decision about a program. The best way to obtain this contact information is to attend the DI Preparation Workshop and Fair, ask the DI Director for current or past intern contact information, and/or ask Mrs. Beathard for former student’s contact information.

The Texas A&M University Writing Center provides resources such as in-person appointments and workshops to help students improve their writing skills. This resource may be helpful in evaluating and improving the written quality and flow of your personal statement.
